Negli anni ‘70 venne composta da Guru Shabad Singh (Stephen Joseph), uno dei membri della leggendaria “Khalsa String Band”, “Guru Ram Das Lullaby” (lett. la “Ninna nanna di Guru Ram Das”), che molti autori hanno poi riarrangiato nel corso degli anni.
